What’s New in Camper Trailers, Fellow Campers, Destinations, and Gear

Going camping this summer? You’re not alone! According to the 2018 North American Camping Report, sponsored by Kampgrounds of America (KOA), camping is rising in popularity across the United States and Canada. So, who are your fellow campers, where are the hot spots to visit, and what’s the best camping gear to take with you? Pace American Trailers reveals some of the top camping news and trends for 2018, below.

First, campers today come in all ages, from kids to seniors, but Millennials and Gen Xers make up three-quarters of all campers, with Millennials alone accounting for 40%, according to KOA. While some like to get away from it all, many of today’s campers look for campsites with internet connectivity and other amenities.

Next, those younger campers are saying the best camper trailer for them is on the smaller side, providing enough room to sleep and haul your camping gear, but without the fancy add-ons and high price tag of big RVs.

KOA also unveiled some new camping locations this year, reflecting the increasingly diverse camping population, including families looking for lots of activities, campers who want to chill out, and adventurers. Here are three examples:

Willcox/Cochise KOA Holiday, ArizonaLocated in the beautiful high mountain desert, this new campground offers seasonal cowboy breakfasts and dinners, hand-dipped ice cream, free mini-golf, a general store, and a brand new pool, plus many national monuments nearby for exploring.

Palm Springs/Joshua Tree KOA, California. Located near Palm Springs/Coachella Valley, this campground is built for relaxing and features a large swimming pool and three hot tubs that are fed by natural therapeutic hot springs. Campground guests can partake in activities on-site or enjoy nearby golf courses, museums, festivals, and Joshua Tree National Park.

Homer/Baycrest KOA Holiday, AlaskaOne of two KOA locations in Alaska, this campground features mountain and ocean views. Close to downtown you’ll find Homer, great hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, and more.

And, what’s camping without the latest in camping gear? Campers are always looking for better (and more compact) ways to cook, clean up, and use energy efficiently. These three devices will help make the most of your camping experience.

Nemo Helio Shower– This lightweight, portable shower provides 5-7 minutes of continuous, steady water pressure. The convenient foot pump pressurizes the water bag so you don't have to hang it.

Coleman Eventemp 3-Burner Propane Stove– You can fit up to three pans on this portable stove that heats evenly and efficiently, starts automatically without a match, and has Wind Block Panels that help shield burners from wind or fold down to use as side tables. Just remember to only use this stove outside of your enclosed cargo trailer and away from debris or low-hanging foliage.

GoalZero Nomad 7 Plus Solar Panel– Use the power of the sun to charge your USB devices no matter where you are using this lightweight device.

Camping is a fun activity for everyone, so why not plan your next trip now? Pace American is ready to get you on the road with our Camper Trailer Package.
